FLOWEDIT WORKFLOW GUIDE

Edit AI-generated videos online

Generated footage can still need a better cut, a clear title or a soundtrack. FlowEdit is a free online video editor for finishing compatible video files in your browser, including footage you created with an AI tool.

Import your video and start editing

AI video editor or AI video generator?

A generator creates new footage, often from text or images. An AI video editor may automate tasks such as captions or cuts. FlowEdit currently provides a manual editing timeline: it does not offer text-to-video generation, prompt-based edits or automatic subtitles. This guide explains how to finish files generated elsewhere.

From generated clips to a finished video

  1. 1. Download your generated footage

Create footage in your chosen AI video generator and save the video to your device. Start with a short MP4 that plays in your browser. FlowEdit imports files; it does not connect to a generator account or import a prompt.

  2. 2. Import and arrange scenes

Open Projects, create a project and import your downloaded clips. Add them to the timeline in story order. Play each scene and split or trim sections that repeat, pause too long or contain visual mistakes.

  3. 3. Add readable titles

Choose Text and Add text. Enter a title, label or short message manually, then adjust its position, font size and duration. Preview the whole frame so the words remain readable. FlowEdit does not transcribe speech automatically.

  4. 4. Balance music and color

Import audio you are allowed to use, place it beneath your clips and reduce its volume if it competes with speech. Use Color grading to balance exposure and temperature between scenes. These adjustments are manual.

  5. 5. Review and export

Watch the full sequence, including every cut and audio change. Open Export video and render a short test before a longer project. Download the result when it is ready. Codec support, output settings and render speed depend on your browser and device.

Example: turn three generated scenes into a short video

Place a wide establishing shot first, follow it with a closer detail, then finish with your final scene. Trim repeated motion at the joins. Add a short opening title, bring in licensed music and watch the edit with sound before exporting. If a scene contains a distorted face or unreadable lettering, trim around it or replace that scene; timeline editing does not regenerate the image.

Check your source files

Keep the originals and check the generator's permissions before publishing. Editing does not remove its licensing conditions or grant rights to a person's likeness or voice. Generated footage can contain mistakes, so review names, facts and visuals. Projects save in this browser, not in a cloud backup.

Common questions

Can FlowEdit create a video from a text prompt?

No. Generate the footage separately, download it and import the file for manual editing.

Can I edit AI-generated videos for free?

FlowEdit's editing tools are free. Your source generator may have its own fees and limits. Compatibility depends on the downloaded file and your browser.

Can I change subtitles already visible inside a video?

Text baked into the video is part of the image, not an editable text layer. Download a version without captions from the source tool if available, then add your own manual text layers. FlowEdit does not automatically extract or remove burned-in subtitles.
